Total for week 86.0kms

A nice run with Fintan on Tuesday who furnished me with a nice birthday cake (44 now)....

A threshold run on Wednesday and legs still not quite right. On Friday I tried again but gave up after 5km as I felt knackered. Then bounced back and ran a bit better on Saturday and Sunday. Not a great week but I'm focused now on getting the head down for some big November targets (10km and half marathon). It would be nice to finish off the year with a couple of PB's!

Nice one Matt, good to have targets, any races in particular for the 10k/Half assault in November?

Hi Matt, Been enjoying dropping in on your blog for a while, think it was the combination of beer and quick times that drew me in.....
A quick question - what's your theory behind the (relatively) quick paces that you run for your recovery runs, is that basing this off heart rate? And also running threshold runs on consecutive days? Clearly you have a lot of success in what you're doing so something must be working. Keep up the good work and the enjoyable blog! Cheers, Deri

John - maybe the Leeds Abbey Dash 10km on Nov 15th and the Norwich Half Marathon on Nov 22nd!

Oakwood - yes all my runs are done off heart rate. I've got quicker in my zones as I've got fitter. Threshold runs on consecutive days are quite tough - but I'm never running top of zone which is true threshold. More recently I like to alternate my runs so I have the threshold runs every other day. That's more manageable and I seem to be more consistent doing it that way.
